Flight Information

Dear Friend,

We are moving right along in our preparations for the Prophecy Study Tour. This note is to inform you of details that will help in your planning so indeed this will be the adventure of a lifetime.

The information we have been given for your international flights are as follows:

EL AL#28 07MAR Newark - Tel Aviv 115pm - 640am next day
EL AL#027 16MAR Tel Aviv - Newark 1230am - 700am

We are flying on ELAL Airlines. Be sure you have allowed a minimum of  three to five hours prior to the flight time for your arrival in Newark, and at least three hours following arrival time back in USA for your departure from Newark. It would probably be best to plan to be in Newark by 8:00am.

Also, once again, the information on travel insurance, you can contact www.travelguard.com, www.travelex.com or www.accessamerica.com - these are all ones people on previous tours have used.

Several have asked about baggage: Our baggage allowances will allow for you to have one suitcase for check-in and one to carry on the flight. You may also carry a personal item on the flight with you. You may want to checkELAL’s web site to see what the current weight allowance is. Most International Flights will accept items weighing more but they will charge an excess baggage fee. (Most airlines will not accept items over 100 lbs.) The carry-on must fit under your seat. (It must be the size that will fit in the airport size-wise containers.) Our advice is to travel light. ELAL Air charges for additional baggage.

Some information regarding your carry-on:

Taking a few minutes to prepare may help to prevent some real hassles at security or even the frustration of having some personal property confiscated.

Most countries now prohibit or strictly limit the size of containers with liquids, gels, aerosols, and pastes that you can take in your carry-on luggage. Empty containers that could contain liquids are usually prohibited as well.

Examples of liquids and gels included in the security measures are:

* Beverages * Creams * Hair gel * Hair spray * Shampoo * Suntan lotion * Toothpaste

* Other items of similar consistency

You'll go smoothly through the security checkpoints in most countries if you follow these guidelines for your carry-on baggage. These simple hints will usually help you to breeze right through security checkpoints.

* Do not pack or carry any empty containers

* Limit all liquids, gels, aerosols, and pastes to a maximum size of 3.4 oz/100ml.

* Place all such items in a quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag.

* Remove your quart-size bag from your carry-on and place in the provided bin

In some airports it is possible to purchase these types of items and take them on board the aircraft once you've cleared security. However, if your continuing travel takes you through additional checkpoints where they're prohibited, they could be confiscated.

* Travel light—minimal clutter will expedite the screening process.

* Leave lighters at home.

* Leave your pocket-knives, files, scissors, and any sharp objects at home or put them in your checked baggage.

* Be ready to take off your shoes and put belts, mobile phones, and metal objects in your carry-on.

* Take your laptop out of its case and place it in the container provided for you.

* Have acceptable identification and your boarding pass out and ready to show.

Another question that is being asked is about clothes. You will need mostly casual, comfortable clothes for sightseeing. Even the mealtimes at the hotels are casual. There will not be a need for dress clothes. You will want comfortable walking shoes. I suggest that you pack clothes that you can layer. (I will forward information on the weather in a coming letter.)

These are some of the items we suggest that you’ll want to bring along on the tour:

1. Bible & notebook 8. camera & film

2. wash clothes 9. comfortable walking shoes

3. bathing suit (for the Dead Sea) 10. sweater or wind breaker

4. beach slippers (for the Dead Sea) 11. sunglasses

5. suntan lotion 12. extra spending money for gifts

6. hat or cap (umbrella) 13. converters, if bringing items requiring electricity

7. Hairdryer (ie: hair dryer, etc)

The Gai Beach (in the Galilee) and both Movenpick’s in Jordan have hairdryers in all rooms. The Dan (in Jerusalem) has hair dryers in most rooms, and the hotel has some guests can use, if you ask. If you have to have one – I would bring it!
